Description
Spectacled Langur, also known as Dusky Langur, Dusky Leaf Monkey or Spectacled Leaf Monkey, is one of the most common monkeys found in Khao Sok National Park. Spectacled Langurs are often seen on treetops on early mornings or late afternoons feasting on fresh leaves and fruit. Best place in Khao Sok to see them is Cheow Larn Lake, but if you are lucky and start your trek early, you can also see them along the treks leaving from the National Park main head quarters. They have very long tails and therefore are easy to distinct from other monkey species living in the same area. The name Langur comes from Hindu word for long-tailed. They are listed as ‘lower risk, near threatened’ on the IUCN Red List.
