Day 1: An Elephant Experience Awaits

Welcome to the jungle
A friendly transfer driver will collect you from the airport or your hotel in Krabi, Phuket, Koh Samui, Khao Lak, Phang Nga or Surat Thani; whisking you away to Khao Sok National Park. As you journey to the park, keep your eyes open for spottings of tropical wildlife – a sure sign you’re getting close. On arrival at Elephant Hills’ Camp, you’ll be shown to your luxury tent before a Thai-style buffet lunch is served.

Float through the wilderness
After refuelling your body at camp, hop aboard a jungle river canoe. A local river guide will do all of the paddling, so grab your life jacket, put your feet up, and get ready to be wowed. As you drift down the river you’ll pass limestone cliffs jutting from the water, tropical vegetation as far as the eye can see, and some of Khao Sok’s local residents. While we can never guarantee a sighting, this area is home to leopards, monkeys and wild elephants. You’re sure to spot some of our local birds though, with hornbills being a particularly exotic species.

An incredible elephant encounter
Next up, head to Khao Sok’s finest elephant park for a once-in-a-lifetime encounter. You’ll learn about the life and history of elephants in Thailand, meet the elephant caretakers or mahouts, and get ready to meet these gentle giants up close. Prepare a meal of fresh fruit for the resident elephants before hand feeding them in a unique, chain-free and ethical environment. Named “the most elephant friendly park in Thailand” by the Tourism Authority of Thailand for several years in a row, you can be sure that your encounter will be memorable for all the right reasons.

Rest and relaxation
After a full day of fun, it’s time to head back to camp for a hot shower and some downtime. Enjoy the stunning vista of the rainforest from the tent-front deck, or join your fellow travellers at the Jungle Explorers’ Club Bar where a range of cocktails, spirits and wine is available. Your choice of evening entertainment includes a cooking demonstration, a traditional Thai dance performed by local school children, or a movie screening. Dinner will be served at 8:00 pm, where you will be serenaded by the sounds of the nearby jungle.

Sweet dreams guaranteed
Enjoy a blissful night spent in your luxurious safari tent, where you’ll find a crisp linen covered bed and hotel-quality ensuite, complete with western style toilet, hot shower and toiletries. The doors and windows of your tent are equipped with mosquito netting as well as canvas covers, so you can rest easy knowing you won’t have any insect visitors overnight. Warm blankets are in good supply, so get cosy under the covers and drift off to the sounds of the rainforest.

Day 2: Cheow Larn Lake Beckons

A bright new day
Wake up, it’s another day in paradise! Today is another day full of adventure, this time centred on Khao Sok’s Cheow Larn Lake. But first, start the day right with in-room tea and coffee facilities for the early-risers, and breakfast available at your leisure. Then, traverse the lake by long-tail boat, marvelling at the rainforest covered mountains that surround you. A vital life source for many of the local wildlife species, keep an eye on the lake’s edge for rare sightings of Asian oxen or any of the area’s elusive large cats.

Lunch served atop the water
Journey to Elephant Hills’ Rainforest Camp, located in the heart of Khao Sok National Park, floating above Cheow Larn Lake. Staff will show you to your luxury tent, again with private western en-suite and all modern facilities. Combining hotel convenience with an ecotourism focus, you’ll find that the tents are completely solar and wind-powered, but not lacking in any creature comforts. From your private deck, you can sit back and drink in the views over the lake, before enjoying a buffet lunch of Thai delicacies, prepared fresh on-site.

These boots were made for walking
There’s no better way to experience all that Khao Sok has to offer than by foot. Come face to face with the jungle as you set out on an easy guided trek. This won’t be a test of endurance, but instead an opportunity to immerse yourself in the jungle, absorbing the peace and tranquillity of nature. Here, in one of the world’s most ancient rainforests, you’ll see a variety of tropical plants, such as orchids, ferns, bamboo, mosses and hardwood trees with massive root systems.

VIP seats for sunset
If you thought your evening at The Elephant Camp was magical, prepare to be spellbound. Order a drink from the bar and enjoy it on your private deck, watching as the sun’s reflection beams over the lake before dipping below the skyline. A dip in the lake or hot shower is waiting to refresh you in time for dinner, which will be served under a starlit sky. Your final night in paradise.

Day 3: Final Goodbyes

Start your day the right way
As you wake to the sound of gibbons calling in the distance, don’t be tempted to snuggle down further in your plush bed. It’s your last day in Khao Sok, there’s no time for rest! Why not start your day with a refreshing dip in the lake, or grab a paddle and set off in your private canoe? Whatever you decide, enjoy your final morning on Cheow Larn Lake before meeting the rest of your group for breakfast.

A final taste of adventure
Following breakfast, your guide will be leading a canoe safari down the channels that branch off from the lake. Here you’ll quietly drift under the rainforest canopy, allowing you to scan the treetops for birds and primates. This is an ideal means to spot wildlife, as you float unintrusively into a habitat that thousands of species call home.

Onward journeys
Say farewell to your newfound friends with one last lunch, served at Rainforest Camp. Your time in Khao Sok National Park may be over, but your memories are sure to last a lifetime.
