Black‐headed bulbul

(Pycnonotus atriceps)

Description:
The black‐headed bulbul belongs to the family of bulbuls. It is yellowish green, with a glossy black head. The black‐headed bulbul is found in forests all over South East Asia. They occur in small flocks of six to eight individuals.

Diet:
The black‐headed bulbul is a fruit eating bird, consuming mostly small fruits and berries. If the opportunity arises, it will also feed on insects.

Habitat:
The habitat of the black‐headed bulbul includes broadleaved evergreen forests, mixed deciduous forest and evergreen rainforest, as well as forest edge environments and secondary growth.

Reproduction:
Bulbuls build untidy cup‐shaped nests out of twigs, grass and fiber. They like to use a Y‐ section of a branch to place their nest for additional support, in which they lay three to five eggs with an incubation time of about two weeks. Male and female will take care and feed the offspring.
