Description:
The common tailorbird is a small songbird found all across tropical Asia. It is bright green on top, paler below and the head has a brown crown. The juveniles are all green at first, then change the color of their feathers once they reach adulthood. The tailorbird is found either single or in pairs and often it can be heard quite well, as it has a loud call.

Tailorbirds adapted very well to human interference and are even commonly found in big cities like Singapore.

Diet:
Tailorbirds are insectivore, consuming a wide variety of beetles and bugs. Sometimes they may also snack on small fruits and berries and occasionally drink nectar from a flower.

Habitat:
The common tailorbird is found in gardens, open farmland and cultivation edges, open deciduous woodland and mangroves. It never occurs in densely forested environments.

Reproduction:
The tailorbird breeds all year round. It is famous for “sewing” big leaves together by using fiber or spider silk in order to build its nest. The resulting cradle is stuffed with various plant materials, which will be the nest used for breeding. Two to five eggs are laid by the female and incubation takes 12 days.
